BREAKING NEWS: IzzyOnDroid with RB Flags
The F-Droid Repo from IzzyOnDroid now marks reproducible apps (Reproducible Builds) with a simple but effective shield symbol to assure sensitive users of the reproducibility and thus the integrity of their apps.

The labelling of reproducible builds (RB) for the custom F-Droid repo IzzyOnDroid has just gone online. The reproducibility of Android apps is crucial for recognising interim manipulations and resulting deviations between the source code and the apps supposedly or actually created from it, as the end result would not match that of a manipulated app for download in the case of a self-compile.
For those who have only just understood the station, we recommend the confectionery analogy:
The source code is the recipe, the app is the cake.
If you bake the freely available recipe for Danube waves and the result somehow tastes completely different to the ‘Danube waves’ from the baker, you know that something has been taken away from the baker - or worse still: added.
If, on the other hand, your baker reveals the recipe to you (= open source), you bake it yourself and get an identical cake, you can be sure that the recipe for the cake in the bakestore has not been tampered with.

🚨 UPDATE
: The labelling refers to the WEBSITE, more precisely to the OVERVIEW on the same, the labelling in the INDIVIDUAL VIEW (i.e. the view of the individual app pages) already existed before.
Nevertheless, this means that you can ALREADY SEE IN THE OVERVIEW of apps on the start page whether the app you (have to) rely on is reproducible and therefore reliable.
