About: The Altmann Attitude

Since AI is a thing, RAM has become a very much wanted ressource. Making hardware insanely expensive. Yet Sam Altmann rhetorically asks for all our RAM, since private RAM would be a waste.

Sam Altmann asks the question whether RAM isn't better off living in a data center. Framing people having their "own" RAM as selfish - which is a bold claim for a selfish person. So according to Sam Altmann, we should give up all our RAM for supporting data centers we can in turn rent the RAM back from - for gaming for example.

A Wet Dream of Control

To be perfectly clear: those are fantasies of total control.
And they do not necessarily comply with reality: A poor AI billionaire begging for RAM will probably not lead to droves of people ripping apart their computers and donating their precious RAM to poor billionaires.

Conclusion

You don't need to disassemble your PC to donate your RAM to MAGA.
And you certainly do not have to feel bad about it: Your RAM is right where it belongs: in your Personal Computer.
